Listening, and Learning at the Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health (IIPH) Think Tank
October 2025

Mamow Ahyamowen participated in the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health (IIPH) Think Tank. The gathering brought together Indigenous leaders, researchers, and community representatives from across the country to explore the future of Indigenous health research and collaboration.
At the Think Tank, the Mamow team had the chance to share experiences from Organizations and communities and, just as importantly, listen to discussions about the future of Indigenous health research. We also had the opportunity to connect with people from organizations we already collaborate with and to foster new relationships with some of the other participants. Listening to the ideas, challenges, and visions of others provided valuable insight into emerging priorities and innovative approaches in Indigenous-led health research. The event reinforced the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and ensuring that research efforts are led by and for Indigenous communities.
Participating in the Think Tank strengthened our commitment to using health data as a tool to support community-driven initiatives, while also contributing to the overarching direction of the Institute and Indigenous health research as a whole.
