Webinar for Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research (NEIHR)

July 2019

In 2018 Mamow Ahyamowen supported the Canadian Institutes for Health Research planning grant application that was led by Professor Jen Walker. The planning grant was to support the development of a Network Environment for Indigenous Health Research (NEIHR) in Ontario. The planning grant application was successful and resulted in several discussions with communities and Mamow Ahyamowen Steering Committee members about how the NEIHR could help to serve the needs of Northern Ontario First Nations’.

As part of the planning process a series of webinars was presented by NEIHR partners across northern Ontario. Mamow Ahyamowen was asked to present on the partnership’s work. Fern Assinewe (Community Wellness Director at Sagamok Anishnawbek) and Stephen Moore (Project Manager, Mamow Ahyamowen) presented on the partnership’s work including some of the results of the Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services mortality report that had recently been shared publicly. The full webinar is available here.
