Team building and C2U

June 2023

Mamow Ahyamowen Support Staff attended the Community-College-University (C2U) Expo, June 5-8, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Expo was hosted by Lakehead University and provided great presentations and workshops on community-based research. There were many Indigenous-themed presentations by respected scholars (Professor Maui Hudson, Dr. Eve Tuck and Dr. Lana Ray) and circle discussions on various topics such as “Respecting Indigenous peoples and knowledges in partnership,” “Bridging Indigenous and Western Science” and “Indigenous Data Governance Protocols.”

The last Indigenous session ended with a feast for the Anishnaabe Kendaasiwin Institute (AKI) – an Indigenous-governed research institute at Lakehead University.

Support Staff also had the opportunity to connect with Steering Committee members in person and share ideas – a welcome bonus to attending the conference!
