At the in-person meeting in Thunder Bay, the group highlighted the importance of strengthening capacity initiatives for the partnership. To address this need, Mamow Ahyamowen collaborated with ICES to provide the Indigenous Health Data Training Program.
This online program aims to share knowledge about ICES data with a focus on Indigenous health. The Indigenous Health Data Training Program is also an opportunity for partners and community members to gain practical knowledge on how to develop a research question, navigate the ICES research request process, interpret research data outputs, and translate that knowledge into action.
The first group started the Indigenous Health Data Training Program in November, and it will run until April 2021. If successful, and if there is a continued need, the program may run again in late 2021.
