Progress Update – Summer 2023

July 2023

In addition to picking up some things that were put on pause due to the pandemic, the Alliance has continued important work behind the scenes. Below are some of the items that Mamow Ahyamowen has been working on:

  • We are building a Mamow Ahyamowen Intranet that Steering Committee members will have access to. The Intranet will be a way to hold all Alliance-related documents as well as specific folders with organizational information. These folders will be heavily protected while providing the necessary people with the information they need. This is another way we are facilitating the “Access” in OCAP®
  • We continue to work with the teams at ICES to move the analytic work forward and ensure that the data within will be meaningful and valuable to communities and organizations.
  • We continue to have Privacy Q&A Coffee chats every two weeks. These online chats allow folks to drop in and ask any privacy-related questions. Additionally, we have been sharing monthly Privacy Corer emails – the Alliance encourages the organizations to take the information and put it on their letterhead and send it out in an email to co-workers.
  • We had an opportunity to provide in-person knowledge-sharing sessions with one affiliated organization. This was an opportunity to highlight the Alliance and the specific regional data.
  • We provided a presentation for the Osgoode Certificate in Privacy Law and Information Management in Healthcare. This presentation was an opportunity to discuss how we apply Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles and use OCAP® as a guiding tool to protect community and organizational data.
  • We are working with Ingaged Creative Productions Inc. to prepare for a data workshop in autumn 2023. This event will be by invitation for Health Directors from the organizations and communities the Alliance serves.
