September 2025

Mamow Ahyamowen was invited to speak at a Research Sharing Day hosted by Dr. Joey-Lynn Wabie and nandawejigewin gamig. The team shared the story of the Alliance through the lens of self-determination and First Nations Data Sovereignty, highlighting its beginnings, the work happening today, and the vision for the road ahead.

Hybrid Presentation at the nandawejigewin gamig’s Research Sharing Day

Attendees learned how Mamow Ahyamowen is leveraging data to support community-driven health initiatives, strengthen evidence-informed decision-making, and empower First Nations to use the data in meaningful ways. The Mamow team also highlighted the importance of Knowledge Translation and Exchange, showing how the Alliance returns meaningful data back into the hands of communities and Organizations. It was a great opportunity to share our journey, connect with students and researchers, and show how communities can use data to drive positive, community-led transformation in Northern Ontario First Nations.

Chi-Meegwetch to Dr. Joey-Lynn Wabie and her team at nandawejigewin gamig for the invitation. We are especially grateful for opportunities to speak about the story of Mamow Ahyamowen in Indigenous spaces.
