Mamow Ahyamowen at the ICES Research Forum

May 2023

This past spring, Mamow Ahyamowen was invited to co-present at the ICES Research Forum. The theme for the forum was Way Forward: Advancing Health Equity Through Data which is very much in line with Mamow Ahyamowen’s work.

The presentation discussed how Mamow Ahyamowen applied Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS) and self-determination principles in our Knowledge Translation and Exchange (KTE) efforts. Maureen Gustafson and Christina Vlahopoulos co-presented with Dr. Jen Walker who talked about IDS and Aggie Mazzucco, who talked about KTE in efforts in the project she supports (Prenatal Opioid Exposure and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome: A Research Project with 13 First Nations Communities in Ontario). The session was well received and inspired other organizations to reach out to Mamow Ahyamowen to learn more about our work and approach to working with communities.
