Maamwizing Indigenous Conference at Laurentian University

In November 2024, Mamow Ahyamowen support staff attended the Maamwizing Indigenous Conference at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. The conference, held on November 15th and 16th, centered on the theme “Community-Driven Research With, By, and For Indigenous Peoples.”

This event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with Indigenous scholars, community leaders, and organizations dedicated to advancing Indigenous research. The conference featured keynote speakers, including Amy Shawanda and Kathy Absolon, who shared their expertise and experiences in Indigenous research methodologies.

Participating in the Maamwizing Indigenous Conference allowed Mamow Ahyamowen support staff to deepen their understanding of community-driven research approaches and to build connections with others committed to supporting Indigenous communities through collaborative research and initiatives.
